My adoption paperwork states that my birthdate of November 1974, was on a piece of paper where I was found at the home of Huh Young Ran, Hakseongdong, 1-Dong, 12 Ban, Wonju, South Korea on March 9, 1975.

My birthmother’s name is to me unknown. She was 16 years old when she gave birth to me in 1978. She is from Jeju Island.

My birthfarther’s name is Cheol Beom. He was 20 years old in 1978. He is or was a buddhist monk in a temple in Seoul. He is also the father of 2 twin boys born around 1988.

I met my birthfather back in 2006, when I visited Korea. Unfortunately we lost contact. I have a cousin Moon Suk Park and an uncle Yoo Chul Sung, whom I also met.

My Danish name is Maria Møller Foged and my Korean Name Yoo Jin Mee. I was born in December 1978 in Mokpo, Jun Nam.

I was placed at Mokpo Reception Center, Bisabel Baby Home in 2/23/1979 and adopted through Adoption Agency Holt Children’s Services Korea.

• 24살 때 "GNE 근육병"이라고 불리는 희귀 진행성 근육위축증 진 단을 받았음. 이것은 유전병이기 때문에, 부모님으로부터 이 병을 물 려받았다는 뜻임. 따라서 친 가족 중에 나와 같은 증상이 있는 사람 이 있을 수 있음. 10대 때부터 이 병의 증상이 시작되었음

-Orphanage: Admitted to White Lily Orphanage on April 5, 1979 for 15 days.  Admitted to Daesungwon Orphanage on April 20,1979 until 1983. I had a foster mom (Kim, Kyung Sook) months prior to adoption.

Situation: No info. or name of my birth parents are in my adoption files. Abandoned at birth, I was placed into an orphanage with no info. The maternity clinic named me. No information about my birth clinic exists.

-Born with a cleft palate. The first 6 months of life, I had cleft palate reconstruction, a deadly liver disease, chicken pox and measles.  At 24 years old, I was diagnosed with a rare and progressive muscular dystrophy called GNE Myopathy (GNEM). This is GENETIC, which means I inherited it from my biological parents, so it’s possible I have birth family members with the same condition. Symptoms began in my teenage years. 

I am looking for any information about my birth family, and KIM Young-eun Maternity Clinic or nurses who worked there when I was born.

저는 미국 미네소타 미니애폴리스 외곽에서 미국 가족과 함께 살았습니다. 고등학교 졸업 후 미국 공군에 입대하였고

최근 2022년에 군에서 은퇴하였습니다. 결혼했고, 아이는 두 명 (아들 한 명, 딸 한 명)입니다. 개도 두 마리 키우고

I was raised outside of Minneapolis, Minnesota USA by an American family. I joined the US Air Force after high school and recently retired from the military in 2022. I am married, have two children (1 son and 1 daughter) and two dogs. I currently live outside of Washington D.C. I recently (April 2024), received information about my birth parents as well as the history in Korean text. Prior to April 2024, the English text version of my documents indicated my birth parents as “unknown” and state I was abandoned. I now have the family names of both my birth mother and birth father, as well as their birth years and know which area I was born. Before April 2024, I never had much hope ever finding my birth family because there was so little information, so I didn’t put much effort into trying to find them. It doesn’t mean I never thought of them. I think of my birth family every day and hope to find them soon. I understand how the conditions in Korea would have made my birth mother and my life very difficult and understand why she had to put me up for adoption. 1972년 6월 26일부터 1972년 7월 9일까지 인천 해성보육원에 있었습니다.

그리고 부산 동일 국민학교에 2학년 1학기까지 다녔습니다.
